The beautifully labyrinthine plotting of blood simple must had been a difficult act to comply with; reward be, then, to the brothers coen for confounding all expectations with this fervently resourceful comedy. Sublimely incompetent convenience-store robber hi mcdonnough (cage, at his great but) appears doomed to go back repeatedly to the equal penitentiary until actual love hoves in view in the shape of prison officer edwina (hunter).
Spliced in a trice, the frustratedly infertile couple kidnap one (genuinely he won't be neglected?) of the distinguished arizona quintuplets, heirs to an unpainted-fixtures fortune. However happiness being evanescent, complications occur while a couple of hello's old cellmates flip up searching for sanctuary; after which there's the problem of a rabbit-taking pictures biker of hellish hue, hired by using arizona senior to find his lacking brat. What makes this tense farce so clean and humorous is the sheer fertility of the writing, whilst the lives and times of hello, ed and friends are painted in wonderfully seedy shades, turning arizona into a legendary haven for a memorable gaggle of no-hopers, halfwits and has-beens. Beginning from a point of delirious extra, the film leaps into darkish and simply uncharted territory to jump like a comet.
